Area Business Development Leader

As Area Business Development Leader, you drive growth by identifying and qualifying opportunities, leading pursuit teams, and strengthening client relationships. You'll shape regional strategies aligned with HDR's goals, manage budgets, and guide marketing and content initiatives to boost visibility. You'll work with cross functional teams to win major opportunities and contribute to HDR's mission of resilient, sustainable communities. This role offers impact by expanding market share and strengthening HDR's brand in target markets.

• Identify and qualify leads to meet annual sales goals
• Achieve area sales goals
• Manage area business development and marketing budgets
• Maintain client relationship management and financial reporting systems
• Understand market trends impacting clients
• Develop annual and long-term strategic plans with growth initiatives
• Implement growth investments per strategic plans
• Serve as Client Manager for assigned accounts
• Develop and implement client plans and long-term strategies
• Develop business relationships with teaming partners
• Execute go/no-go decisions per HDR authority matrices
• Lead pursuit teams to create and implement win strategies
• Engage project management and technical talent in pursuit teams
• Participate in proposal and interview material development and reviews
• Coach interview teams for effective messaging
• Facilitate debriefs to improve competitiveness
• Recognize pursuit successes and milestones
• Direct content marketing to strengthen HDR's brand
• Retain, develop and supervise BD and marketing staff
• Identify candidates for leadership positions in BD/Marketing
• Mentor employees on BD and marketing best practices
• Solicit client feedback and apply HDR risk management in pursuits
• Engage in professional associations to elevate HDR's brand
• Articulate HDR's capabilities and competitive advantages

• Minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
• Self-starter with track record of independent project completion
• Deep knowledge of A/E/C procurement of professional services
• Ability to motivate and inspire others
• Proven ability to build client and partner networks
• Experience in sales and win-strategy development
• Strong financial acumen and negotiation skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability and willingness to travel and engage in person
• Experience in writing compelling content from technical staff
